We first joined in with the Malton Sculpture Trail in May 2023.
The sculpture we entered was a majestic 7-ft tall rose, titled simply "flower", crafted from scrap lawnmower parts.
Our entry to the trail allowed the partakers to immerse themselves in the timeless beauty and symbolism of the iconic flower. Its graceful petals and intricate details beckoned admiration and contemplation.
Initially, 'Flower' was displayed in Malton town centre as part of their well-known trail and market event. After the weekend the art pieces were moved to Dalby Forest to be appreciated in completely different surroundings, and it was here that the rose really came into it's own.
Positioned by the river in the undergrowth on Ellerbeck Trail, the rose both blended into it's environment and stood out for the timeless piece it was. So much so, that when the trail was over the National Forest approached us and purchased the sculpture so it could remain in place forever.
