Where to start? At the beginning, it would be the best place.
I suppose...
A long time ago, in a far-off land, otherwise known as Rotherham, a baby boy was born... only joking. On to the good stuff!
I started making metal work for friends in 2012, mainly gas garden burners.
In 2017, I had a mental health problem and had a breakdown. I was signed off work, but I refused to be beaten. After research, I decided that medication was not what I wanted, and I hit the gym hard to get my endorphins going. This started to help, but I got bored and was sitting at home. No one contacted me, and when they did, it felt more like pity than anything else (this was in my head, and I’d like to thank everyone that tried to help), so I went and built a forge.
I classify myself as a modern metal worker. I use machinery from all sectors of metal work, whether it is an anvil and forge, a laser cutter, or just a welder, to make my art work.
I like to try and use scrap metal, wood, etc. If I use new metal, I try to get metal with a high (90%+) recycled content.
I take inspiration from anything, from looking at a flower to seeing a beetle on the floor, or it can be the night sky. Talking to other artists is a great thing as it allows you to bounce ideas off each other.
